Answer:
Not all members of the group have been curious about disaster risk nor have expressed interest in knowing what this is all about. In fact, sad to say, people only became interested when they have experienced the adverse effect of the disaster brought about by natural hazards. For example, while the poorest and most marginalized people are busy employing themselves with work that does not actually give them promising income, they are actually exposing themselves into the risks associated with disasters after engaging in illegal mining and illegal logging which both end in flooding and landslides.
However, having a clear and precise plan regarding disaster risk management is a must for every community since everyone is still at risk even those that are staying at concrete houses or those that think that they are already safe with their homes. Having ourselves equipped with the right knowledge and safety measures is the first step in reducing the risk. Everyone should develop that awareness in order to truly assess whether they are at risk or not and whether the chances of avoiding or reducing the risk is high for their community. Despite our busyness, we should keep ourselves posted.
